Marnie & her Education
Marnie is a Certified Holistic Health Counselor accredited by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. She received her education from The Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York City, the only nutrition school integrating disparate dietary theories—combining the knowledge of traditional philosophies like Ayurveda with modern concepts like the South Beach diet and raw foods. Before discovering her passion for helping others achieve wellness, she earned a B.A. in Industrial Engineering from Lehigh University.
In September 2008, Marnie became a certified Personal Trainer through American
Council on Exercise (ACE) and obtained my certification in CPR/AED and First
Aid. To enhance her skills, she participated in the Apprenticeship Training
Program at the Mill Valley Health Club. There she learned first hand from
master personal trainers, completing observation hours, and designing workouts
for clients. In Summer 2009, she also received an additional Personal Trainer Certification with the National
Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).

Marnie & finding her passion (in her own words)
Being active has always been at the center of my life. I’ve walked
across Spain and ridden my bike from San Francisco to LA three times with AIDS
Lifecycle. I’ve completed several half marathons and triathlons of varying
length, including a half ironman. Hiking and backpacking
keeps me inspired yet humble, as I soak in the natural beauty. Over the years my joints have shown some wear,
so these days I’m mostly focused on hiking, yoga, strength exercises, and time in
the saddle.
My journey with nutrition started innocently enough almost eight years ago
when a friend and I somewhat randomly embarked on a three-week
detoxification program. I was convinced I could never survive without my
daily bread. But there I was thriving. I
was fascinated by how energetic and clear I felt when I cut out my beloved
sweets and ate more fresh, whole foods.
My other revelation came when I lost
weight only when I stopped worrying about fat grams and calories and started
focusing on variety and satiation. I’ve continued my exploration through
Ayurveda, yoga, meditation, traveling, and just staying still in in my beautiful
adopted home town of San Francisco.
Success comes from knowing that
you did your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming.
